Additional Information

Slater, a Florida native, coached in Gwinnett County once previously at Lanier High School Winning the 2019 AAAAAA State Title, the 2019 Region 8-AAAAAA Championship, was named the Region 8-AAAAAAA Coach of the year, and the 2019 USA Today Coach of the Year.  Slater set the school record for most wins, going 29-3, and won 70% of his games going 57-25 in his tenure there.

Slater also had Head Coahing stops at Johnson High School and Robert Toombs where he was Region 2-A Coach of the Year in 2013, Region 2-A Champions in 2013, 2013 Elite 8, and 2012 Sweet 16.

Prior to beng a Head Coaching Slater was an assistant at Rome High School, Buford High School, and Bulloch Academy. At Rome he was the 2017 Rome News Tribune Holiday Tournament Champion, and was 23-6 on Varisty and 12-0 on JV winning the JV Championship. While at Buford he was the 2015 Region 8-AAA Runner Up, 2015 Sweet Sixteen, 2014 Region 7-AAA Champions, and 2014 AAA State Runner Up. While at Bulloch Academy he League Champions in 2009 and 2010, Region 2-AA Champions in 2009, and 2019 Final Four.

Education: Graduated from Miami Killian (Fla.) High School; earned a Bachelors degree in Accounting from GSU, earned two master’s degrees, one in Business Administration and in Teaching from GSU.

Personal: Slater is married to Kristin Slater, celebrating 17 years this December. They have two Children, Emma (9) and Cameron (7).
